I am Afiya K. Hooker-Young, a licensed psychotherapist with a couple of mental health practices in Alabama, but also a mother who is passionate about raising children who are well versed in emotional regulation and mental health wellness. Sunshine's Therapeutic Playhouse
Welcome to Sunshine’s Therapeutic Playhouse, a nurturing, play-based program designed to support the whole child—mind, body, and heart. We’re delighted you’ve chosen to partner with us in your child’s growth, development, and emotional well-being.
Our playhouse is more than a place to have fun—it’s a therapeutic environment where children learn important life skills like self-regulation, emotional awareness, problem-solving, and social connection. Guided by licensed therapists, nationally certified counselors, child development specialists, and compassionate caregivers, we create a safe space where children can thrive at their own pace.
Whether your family is here for our Mom’s Day Out program, open play sessions, therapeutic support, or special events, we aim to make every experience joyful, enriching, and supportive. We believe in collaborating closely with parents and caregivers to ensure every child’s needs are met, both in the moment and over time.
